A Principal Data Advisor is the SME on data strategies, enablement, and consumption of D&B data for both paid and standard engagements, driving D&B value while partnering with sales and collaborating with internal teams ensuring scalable and repeatable processes of engagement.
Responsibilities
- Handle a portfolio of accounts, adhoc requests, and standard and/or custom paid engagements. Synergistically partner with Technical Advisory and Analytic Solutions to provide a wholistic Data Advisory Engagement for customers.
- Serve as the SME on D&B Data supporting the sales organization and their GTM strategy helping customers understand, enable and consume D&B Data ensuring max value. This is done through consultative engagements using analytical insights often derived from structured consultation with client stakeholders, client data analytics, client use cases, and processes.
- Identify and nurture your specialties to be used across the DAS portfolio as needed for any customer. Examples of areas of specialty include master data initiatives, matching/identity strategies, client/prospect profiling/segmentation, custom/new data solutions, corporate linkage, sharing of industry BDPs and global data insights. Participate in customer forums, educational programs, best practice sessions, product/marketing collateral and material creation.
- Partner with internal Sales, Client Enablement (product & technical) and Global Content organizations to provide a positive client experience by leading and driving client impacting improvements to drive client value, usage, and retention. Provide insight and strategic advisement on how our D&B data solutions can solve current client use cases and discover new ones where we can help generate additional value for the client.
- Learn and follow the DAS Consultative Engagement Process (CEP) or similar to provide quality and consistency in approach to client engagements. Produce professional and team standardized documentation of the consultative process in a logical, sequential, data/fact driven approach.
- Create new package recommendations/options to provide scalability and repeatability for the DAS team. This includes deliverable templates, talk tracks, GTM recommendations.
Requirements

A Principal Data Advisor is expected to be passionate about the data and our customer’s success. - Combined work experience of 10+ years in executing, designing, and/or selling successful consulting engagements for large/complex customers.
- Familiarity with selling/delivering D&B products or related/competitive solutions is a plus.
- Self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively support large/complex projects with a high level of complexity to ensure fulfillment of contract deliverables.
- Ability to collaborate with key customer stakeholders and partners to understand business drivers and create and present outputs that provide compelling/comprehensive data insights specific to D&B capabilities or solutions.
- Comprehensive analytical aptitude with demonstrated expertise in data management, data governance, data hygiene/matching strategies including understanding data mapping/ workflow documentation.
- Experience with analyzing or working with D&B data a plus.
- 10+ years’ experience within commercial industries (technology, banking, retail, communications, etc.) and business disciplines (sales, marketing, finance, supply chain, compliance, etc.)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
- Hands-on experience with data management tools, techniques and technologies required.
- Proficiency in desktop analysis applications (SAS, MS Access, Excel, etc.) is required.
- Familiarity with database management systems (Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, etc.), business intelligence tools (Business Objects, Tableau, etc.) and CRM systems (Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle Sales Cloud, etc.) is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- Concentrations in Computer Sciences, Analytics or Finance is a plus.
- PMP, Six Sigma or similar training/certification is a plus.
- Expected travel – 30% to 50%.
- Expected time spent interacting with clients and working on client deliverables – 70-80%.
